About me

Present position


    I work as a Head of Laboratory of Neurophysiology of Memory at the Institute of Physiology, Academy of Sciences, Czech Republic. I am also affiliated with National Institute of Mental Health, Klecany, CZ and Charles University in Prague. My scientific interests involve basic and oriented research of spatial learning and memory, neuropharmacology and animal models of neuropsychiatric disorders.

I acted as PI organizing many domestic and international grant projects. I regularly publishes impacted papers (>70 impacted papers published) and also published three excellent papers in Proceedings of National Academy of Sciences of the USA. Recently I have organized an e-book Frontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience, focused on the cognitive deficits.

In 2007, I was awarded with 40th Anniversary EBBS award for outstanding achievements during his early-scientific career. I am also a co-inventor of multiple patents for neuroprotective neurosteroid derivatives (including PCT and EU patents).

I have been a member of editorial board of peer-reviewed scientific journals. I work in Czech scientific committees, and I periodically promote behavioral neuroscience in Czech media. I have also contributed to Czech translation of a book "From Neuron to Brain". I have been supervising many students ranging from high-school to college to graduate students and organized a symposium dedicated to cognitive control in BEHAVIOUR 2013 conference, held in Newcastle, and gave many lectures at international and domestic conferences.
